4th January

Swansea City Women kickstart 2026 tonight as they host The New Saints Women at The M&P Group 3G (7.45pm).

This fixture was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 4 at Llandarcy Academy of Sport but was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Ongoing logistical issues meant the match could not be rearranged at the original venue, and it will instead be played at the M&P Group 3G, the home of Cambrian United.

The Swans come into the fixture on the back of an emphatic 10–0 victory over CPDM Llanystumdwy FC in the second round of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup before Christmas, marking the second time this season they have scored 10 goals in a match.

The Saints also enjoyed a big cup win before Christmas, recording a 7–0 victory over Cambrian United Women in the same competition. TNS arrive in good form, having lost just once since their defeat to the Swans back in October.

Yzzy Taylor

Head coach Yzzy Taylor: "We are really looking forward to the game. We’ve been able to have a little bit of time off but we have been back in training the last couple of weeks and feel like we have been able to prepare well for this game.

"The New Saints have been on a good run of late and we always know them to be a tough and resilient team. We will have to be on top of our game come Wednesday to get a result. We played well last time and really had to grind out a result, and for all of us it’s probably one of our most memorable games this season so far because of what we put in as a group.

"We’ve scored 52 goals in all competitions this season so far - as a group we are extremely proud of this. It’s something we work a lot on and will continue to do so. As a group we will continue to learn and develop all aspects of our performance and we are excited for this year!"

Swans Women vs TNS

Swansea City Women produced a spirited comeback to claim a deserved 2–1 victory over The New Saints Women at Park Hall.

The Saints took the lead after 25 minutes when Zara Gibbs reacted quickest to turn home the rebound from an initial effort by Maria Francis-Jones, a setback for Swansea after a strong opening spell.

However, the hosts’ advantage lasted less than a minute. A trademark long-range free-kick from Chloe Chivers crashed against the crossbar before deflecting off Mackenzie Hayden-Jones and into the net to bring the Swans level.

The equaliser swung the momentum in Swansea’s favour, and they soon found a second goal. Stacey John sent Hayden-Jones the wrong way from the penalty spot after Aimee Deacon was brought down in the area by Sofia Paraiso.

Yzzy Taylor’s side were required to be more resolute defensively after the break, with early pressure from the hosts in search of an equaliser. That, in turn, allowed Swansea opportunities on the counter, and they nearly added a third when John capitalised on a defensive error and attempted to lob Hayden-Jones, who recovered superbly to tip the effort over the bar.

Chances fell at both ends late on, with Charlotte Crees striking the side netting for the Saints and Taite Trivett clipping the post for the visitors. Swansea, however, held firm to secure their first victory in three matches.
